In March of this year my home of 35 years burned to the ground . . . it was a complete loss. We were in tough shape when my private adjuster told me that a mobile home on my land was an option. I knew instantly that was what I wanted to do. The adjuster gave me the name of a mobile home contractor in the area.
That contractor told us that we could only have a one-bedroom installed due to our property’s terrain. Worse yet, the mobile home they offered was quite old and priced the same as a multi-bedroom unit. I asked my insurance adjuster if there were any other providers, and they told me there were none. I started to do my own research and found Emergency Temporary Housing. Then I fired my adjuster.
Jim Flagg and his son were on site the next morning and assured me that they could get a two-bedroom installed and that their unit was brand new. The kicker? . . . it was cheaper than the old one-bedroom I had been offered by the other vendor. Upon speaking directly with my insurance company, they told me that I had made a good choice using the Flagg family as they have an outstanding reputation.
The Flaggs immediately took care of permitting, well pump, electricity, and septic system hookups. Our well water needed special accommodations which they also handled. I did not have to do anything, and the trailer was delivered according to the schedule they had promised.
To say my land was tough is an understatement. It is accessed by a very narrow curvy one-quarter-mile dirt drive, none of it is level, with trees to literally thread through. Despite Flagg’s assurances, we had our doubts. I was a former site work contractor, and I honestly couldn’t see how they were going to do it. Sure enough, on delivery day I watched them calmly, and flawlessly squeeze that mobile home in without any drama. I realized it had been a long time since I had seen a work crew of their caliber.
The mobile home is lovely, and when I look out the windows I see my land, allowing me to be “home” until my house is rebuilt. I cannot recommend this company highly enough! Thank you to the entire Emergency Temporary Housing family!
